Leave a Legacy
Leave a Legacy
A gift in your Will – or in memory of someone you love – helps NYB nurture the artists and choreographers of the future.
“NYB gave me the chance to perform in front of directors and leaders of the ballet world. I will always be grateful to them for starting my career.”
— Tyrone Singleton, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Legacy gifts have shaped who we are today. When our founder, Jill Tookey CBE, left NYB a gift in her Will, it helped us grow from a volunteer-run charity into one with a professional staff team. Gifts like hers protect our future.
Leaving a Gift in your Will
It’s simpler than you might think. Your solicitor or adviser can talk you through the options, which include:
- A residuary legacy – a gift from what’s left of your estate once other gifts are made, which keeps pace with inflation
- A pecuniary legacy – a gift of a fixed sum of money
- A specific legacy – a gift of an item
- Unrestricted gifts that can be used where it’s most needed give us the flexibility to respond to whatever challenge or opportunity our young dancers face next.
How to Leave a Gift in your Will
To include NYB in your Will, ask your solicitor to use our full name, charity number and address so your gift reaches us:
National Youth Ballet of Great Britain, The Courtyard, Shoreham Road, Upper Beeding, Steyning, West Sussex, BN44 3TN
Registered Charity Number: 1000932
If you already have a Will, you don’t need to write a new one. You can add a legacy gift through a Codicil – a simple legal document that adds to your existing Will.
Thinking about leaving a gift? Let us know. It’s not binding, and you can change your mind at any time, but it helps us plan for the future. We’ll always keep your wishes confidential and we’d love to thank you alongside our other supporters, unless you’d rather stay anonymous.
A Gift in Memory
Celebrate the life of someone you loved by supporting the next generation of ballet artists. In 2021, we worked with the daughter of ballet teacher Pat Prime (11 May 1936 – 13 August 2018) to create the Pat Prime Award. It helps young Black dancers with remarkable potential join NYB.
“Seeing Mum’s legacy for change, and seeing people develop their talent because of it, makes me feel humbled. It’s wonderful to see this donation impact individuals so positively.” — Siân Prime
